The Wellness Esquire

Bringing wellness into law

The Wellness Esquire
is on a mission to shift our legal industry to recognize and champion the connection between wellbeing and success.

Our legal community is struggling. People are stressed out, burned out, anxious, depressed, battling addictions, attempting suicide, experiencing stress-induced health challenges, feeling isolated, feeling inadequate. This is not okay.

Lifestyle and stress-management practices can help us cope with the inevitable stressors of working in a demanding professional.

But these personal tools aren’t enough.

Leaders must acknowledge that many of the expectations built into our industry are unreasonable, unhealthy, and unsustainable; leaders must choose to make big changes.

The Wellness Esquire exists to inspire and guide change within our industry that will ultimately serve us as individual humans and our industry as a whole, and to serve as a community builder and a toolbox of resources.

Testimonials

  • The journey through law school has its own unique challenges––isolation, long hours, and significant self-actualization. Now, couple that with remote learning, being in Zoom classroom all day, and trying to maintain a "normal" experience and you quickly find it is exceptionally complicated. Enter Ariella! Ariella was a keynote speaker in our Delaware Law School's Wellness Week in 2020-2021 where she provided invaluable advice on how to build healthy habits while maneuvering the uncharted territories of law school we were facing, why it was important to implement small breaks for meditation and deep breathing, as well as emphasizing how critical it was to care for ourselves––our vessel––to be successful. Ariella delivered a calming and relatable presentation and our students were so thankful for her time and testimony! Thank you, Ariella for all that you do!

  • As a newly called attorney transitioning from law school to private practice during the first year of the covid-19 pandemic, I struggled with anxiety, imposter syndrome, and burnout. During a particularly challenging and uncertain time in my life, I had the good fortune of coming across one of Ariella's LinkedIn posts on my newsfeed. I believe she was discussing the importance of celebrating our wins and engaging in self-care practices, like spontaneous dance parties. She kindly responded to my comment and invited me to a weekly virtual series she was hosting for attorneys across the world to explore wellness-oriented strategies to create a happy, fulfilling, and sustainable life. Her courage to be vulnerable and share her story on social media validated my experience and gave me permission to reflect on my values and priorities. Ariella is a truly inspirational individual that builds organic relationships. Her support was instrumental in helping me navigate the next steps of my professional journey.
